Vice President of Patient Care Services*

Job Description: The Vice President of Patient Care Services under the direction of the CEO is responsible for the management, direction and supervision all nursing service, anesthesia, social services, education, home care, health information services, radiology, laboratory, dialysis, employee health, infection control and quality improvement functions and activities. Responsible for the quality of patient cares and ensures that sufficient and properly qualified personnel carry out their functions appropriately. Is knowledgeable of social, economical and legal issues effecting the health care systems and seeks all opportunities for keeping staff up to date in health care practices. Develops, presents and directs the implementation, and insures compliance of standards of nursing practice.  Requirements: Current license in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse. Graduate of a State accredited school of nursing, BSN minimum, with Masters degree or equivalent education. BLS required. Minimum of 5/7 years experience as a Registered Nurse with comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Minimum of 5 years supervisor experience with demonstrated leadership/management ability.

Job Description: The Housekeeper/17/Floors performs cleaning tasks in an assigned area of the medical center to provide a sanitary, orderly, and attractive hospital environment. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept in the hospital and reflects Southwest Medical Center’s mission and philosophy.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Housekeeping experience helpful, but not required.

Food & Nutrition Services (Dietary)

Dietician*

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm • Plus Weekends

Job Description: The Dietitian supervises the nutritional aspects of patient care, including the assessment of nutritional status and recommendation of appropriate diet therapy. When necessary, the dietitian counsels in-patients and out-patients on appropriate nutrition intervention principles. The Dietitian shares responsibility with the Food Service Manager in meeting professional standards in regards to nutrition.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors in Dietetics or Nutrition supplemented by an internship or other training to meet the registration requirements of the American Dietetic Association. Master Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition preferred. Registration with the commissions of Dietetic Registration of American Dietetic Association. Licensed by the state of Kansas. Clinical and management experience preferred, but not required. Must be able to work well with physicians. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and have a professional attitude at all times.

Cook

Job Description: The Cook is to prepare all food in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations established in policies and procedures as directed or instructed to ensure quality is provided at all time. The Cook functions are as follows but not limited to: dishwasher, tray aide, grill person, hostess, cook, and baker.  Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Food and Nutrition experience preferred: hospital food and nutrition experience a plus. Must be able to read and write English, able to take directions, cook, work grill area, be a team player and work well with others.

Transcriptionist

Job Description: Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals in order to document patient care. An incumbent is regularly given assignments that vary in report or correspondence type, originator, and specialty. Incumbents at this level are able to resolve non-routine problems independently and to notify supervisor for help in solving complex or highly unusual problems. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical transcriptionist preferred. Medical terminology mandatory. Anatomy and Physiology preferred. Two years transcription experience necessary. Computer literate with ability to assess software and equipment.

Tech I

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Description: Medical Records Technician I is responsible for the processes of assembly, analysis, completion, filing, and retrieval of all medical records. Tech is also responsible for reception of customers, answering telephone, release of information regarding medical records, and completing birth certificates. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Position requires good telephone skills, and typing skills.  Basic knowledge of computers, photocopiers required. Knowledge of fax machines, microfilm reader and ten key helpful but not required. Must be able to tolerate the physical and emotional stress associated with the position. Must have communication skills necessary to provide appropriate information.

Patient Financial Services

Billing Supervisor

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Description: The Billing Supervisor is responsible for providing direct supervision of the Cash Posting Clerks, Insurance Billers and Lead Biller, while assisting with any other employee duties within the Patient Financial Services Team as needed. This position participates in the Leadership Development Institute program. Two to five years’ experience in a hospital business office, provider office or healthcare setting preferred. One to two years supervisory experience preferred. Must have working knowledge of major third party payer protocols, including Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, Managed Care, Work Comp, Auto and Self Pay. Must be familiar with ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding, as well as UB04 and HCFA 1500 billing claim forms. Must have proficient working knowledge of personal computers and word processing/spreadsheet software.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher in healthcare, business or related field preferred. Additional college-level courses in Management subjects desirable.

Insurance Biller

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Description: Insurance Biller is responsible for the performance of various duties that are intended to result in proper payments to the hospital for services provided to patients. Duties include completion and filing insurance claims with Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Commercial, and governmental agencies for all inpatients and outpatients. Follow-up is done to insure timely payment son filed claims and any special projects.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in business field or some additional education preferred.

A/R Quality Support Clerk

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Description: The A/R Quality Support Clerk is responsible for accurate, complete and daily data entry of charges to patient accounts for the hospital and clinics. The A/R Quality Support Clerk audits A/R data entry to identify issues, prevent errors and resolve discrepancies. The A/R Quality Support Clerk is responsible for resolving self-pay credits on accounts and working with the Insurance Billers to resolve any other credit balances. Must have good verbal and written communication skills to provide and obtain appropriate information, must have the ability to work accurately with detailed information.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in business field or some additional education preferred.

Financial Counselor

Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Job Description: Financial Counselor is responsible for accurate, complete, and timely resolution of self-pay accounts and the patient pay portion of third party accounts for medical services rendered outpatients or inpatients treated at Southwest Medical Center. Duties include verification of insurance, and collection of deductibles and co-payments from patients or guarantors.  Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Able to handle multiple money transactions. Prior experience working with finances or collections preferred.
