Job Description The Dietitian supervises the nutritional aspects of patient care, including the assessment of nutritional status and recommendation of appropriate diet therapy.  When necessary, the dietitian counsels in-patients and out-patients on appropriate nutrition intervention principles.  The Dietitian shares responsibility with the Food Service Manager in meeting professional standards in regards to nutrition. 

Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelors in Dietetics or Nutrition supplemented by an internship or other training to meet the registration requirements of the American Dietetic Association.  Master Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition preferred.  Registration with the commissions of Dietetic Registration of American Dietetic Association.  Licensed by the state of Kansas.  Clinical and management experience preferred, but not required.  Must be able to work well with physicians.  Must be dependable, self-motivated, and have a professional attitude at all times.

Cook

Job Description: Insurance Biller is responsible for the performance of various duties that are intended to result in proper payments to the hospital for services provided to patients. Duties include completion and filing insurance claims with Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Commercial, and governmental agencies for all inpatients and outpatients.  Follow-up is done to insure timely payments on filed claims and any special projects.

A/R Quality Support Clerk:

Job Description: The A/R Quality Support Clerk is responsible for accurate, complete and daily data entry of charges to patient accounts for the hospital and clinics.  The A/R Quality Support Clerk audits A/R data entry to identify issues, prevent errors and resolve discrepancies.  The A/R Quality Support Clerk is responsible for resolving self-pay credits on accounts and working with the Insurance Billers to resolve any other credit balances. Must have good verbal and written communication skills to provide and obtain appropriate information, must have the ability to work accurately with detailed information.

Job Description: Financial Counselor is responsible for accurate, complete, and timely resolution of self-pay accounts and the patient pay portion of third party accounts for medical services rendered outpatients or inpatients treated at Southwest Medical Center. Individuals will conduct themselves in a manner that will project both professionalism and caring to all people. Job duties will be performed to assist not only the patient but personnel in other hospital departments and physicians and their office staff members. Duties include verification of insurance, and collection of deductibles and co-payments from patients or guarantors. Assists with the training of other employees within the department as needed. Follow up or completion on accounts to insure payment on self-pay accounts, balances due after insurance, and special projects.

Coder:

Job Description: The Coder/Abstractor I shall code and abstract of all types of patient encounters accurately and completely according to departmental guidelines, official ICD-10-CM & PCS and CPT-4 coding guidelines, HCPCS level II procedure codes, modifier guidelines and E&M guidelines for grouping into DRG’s and APC’s for reimbursement and statistical reporting.  The Coder/Abstractor I will be knowledgeable of current Federal and State regulations affecting reimbursement to acute care hospitals.

Medical Records Tech:

Job Description: Medical Records Technician is responsible for the processes of assembly, analysis, completion, filing, and retrieval of all medical records.  Tech is also responsible for reception of customers, answering telephone, release of information regarding medical records, and completing birth certificates. 

Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Position requires good telephone skills, and typing skills.   Basic knowledge of computers, photocopiers required.  Knowledge of fax machines, microfilm reader and ten key helpful but not required.
