Robert Whitaker, President & CEO
Robert Whitaker joined the leadership team of Southwest Medical Center as President & CEO in March. He will rejoin the hospital’s administrative team after having served as Vice-President of Operations from 2015 to 2016. Robert brings a successful track record with more than 16 years of experience in operations and finance management from various acute care hospitals, as well as larger health systems. Most recently, Whitaker served as CEO at Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse and Kiowa District Healthcare in Kiowa. Robert also served in the US Marine Corps Reserve for eight years, obtaining a rank of E-5. Robert earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston and his Master of Public Health degree from Yale University. Robert, his wife Amy, and their five children have been Liberal residents since 2015.
Amber Williams, CFO & Vice-President of Finance
Amber began her career at Southwest Medical Center in 1997 as a cash posting clerk in Patient Financial Services. She then transferred to an accounting assistant position in 2008, where she was eventually promoted into controller and Director of Accounting roles. Amber was named CFO of Southwest Medical Center in October 2014. She received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance from Colorado Technical University and is currently completing her Masters degree.
Mark Cowan, RRT, RPSGT, RST, CPM, Vice-President of Ancillary Services
Mark came to Southwest Medical Center in October 1991 as a respiratory therapy student and has filled many roles during his career at SWMC. Prior to serving as Vice-President of Ancillary Services, Mark served as Vice-President of Hospitalist / Clinical Operations & Business Development and Interim VP of Operations while also directing the Respiratory Therapy, Sleep Lab, and Cardiac Rehabilitation services. He has assisted in implementing and directing several successful clinical support services during his time at SWMC. He graduated from Seward County Community College with an Associates of Applied Science in Respiratory Care, and from the Kansas University Certified Public Manager program. Cowan earned his B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in healthcare administration from Tabor College. He is currently completing his Masters of Business Administration degree from Tabor College. Mark and his wife, Melissa, have a son and a grandson.
Keeley Moree, Vice-President of Practice Management
Keeley served as Director of Marketing and Business Development for 6 years prior to her role in Practice Management at SWMC. Moree brings experience in developing community health partnerships and facilitating business development for SWMC and its six care centers. She served as lead director for the Community Health Fair from 2013-2018. She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, with a minor in Leadership Studies. Moree is a graduate of the Kansas Hospital Association’s Leadership Institute. She earned her Masters in Business Administration with a Healthcare Administration focus from West Texas A&M University. Keeley is a lifelong resident of Liberal and has been married to her husband, Kyle, since 2011.
