SWMC Opens Southwest Care Center

Liberal, KS – Southwest Medical Center has continued towards expanding medical services for the community this month with the opening of the new Southwest Care Center, located at 305 W. 15th Street, Suite 102, in Liberal.

We are excited for the opportunity to provide high-quality, compassionate care to more members of our community with the addition of this new care center,” said CEO Amber Williams. “For many years, our health care providers and staff have been committed to growing and meeting the changing health and wellness needs of our diverse and expanding population, and this care center is a direct response to that need.”

The providers at the Southwest Care Center include Nicole Artamenko APRN-C and Britt Short, APRN-C. They will provide care for patients of all ages. Short is relocating to this new location from the 15th Street Family Care Center.

I’m excited about moving into the new clinic where I will continue to provide primary care services. I think the clinic will be a great addition to the current outpatient clinics at SWMC and allow more access to services for our community. I was born and raised in Liberal and am thankful to have the opportunity to serve in the community where I grew up. As a nurse practitioner for the past 15 years, I have especially enjoyed establishing relationships with patients of all ages and being a part of their healthcare journey. I am passionate about empowering patients and their families to achieve their optimal health and look forward to continuing to do so in our new location,” said Short.

Both providers say communication with the patient and their family is the most important aspect of their practice. Artamenko says she is looking forward to her new role as a Family and Ortho Nurse Practitioner in this community. Artamenko will also specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine. She will work alongside Dr. Desai and Dr. Kawtharani to set up patient care plans.

I am grateful to be a part of the care team at Southwest Care Center. After spending almost a decade in emergency medicine and the last four years in Liberal, I am looking forward to serving the community’s needs by expanding orthopedic and sports medicine services and providing more access to family care,” said Artamenko.

The Southwest Care Center is accepting new patients, walk-in patients, and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid. The care center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
