Southwest Medical Center receives donation from Foundation

June 21, 2019

Southwest Medical Center administrators and Southwest Medical Center Foundation members gathered for a check presentation on Thursday, June 20 at the medical center. The SWMC Foundation donated $260,000 this year to be used for capital improvement projects throughout Southwest Medical Center’s facilities.

Since 2015, the SWMC Foundation has donated more than $1 million dollars toward capital improvements at the hospital. A portion of these funds will be used for renovations to the facility’s OB/GYN delivery rooms and the Skilled Nursing Unit within the next year. Southwest Medical Center remains the only county-owned, not-for-profit community hospital in the state of Kansas that has not levied any taxpayer dollars for support. The hospital was established in 1964 and has focused on providing quality healthcare close to home for patients in Liberal and many surrounding communities.
