Southwest Medical Center Announces New CEO

LIBERAL, KS – Southwest Medical Center’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Amber Williams, MBA, has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer.

For the board, it is paramount that we find a leader who is committed to SWMC’s legacy of mission-driven, community-focused health care,” said Dennis Sander, Chairman of the Board. “In Amber, we see an engaging and compassionate leader who will lead SWMC into its next era of serving the community’s health, our team members, and our medical community.”

Williams began her career at Southwest Medical Center in 1997. Overall, she has over 25 years of healthcare experience. She has served as Interim CEO since April 2021. Prior to this position, Williams served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since October 2014.  Williams received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance and Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Colorado Technical University. Williams also serves as a board director for the Kansas Rural Health Association

I have worked in rural health for over 25 years, it is something that is very important to me. Healthcare never stops changing, but I look forward to building on our strong foundation as we continue to evolve to support the future needs of our communities. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such talented people to ensure we provide the best healthcare possible.”

Williams will work alongside the current administrative team Chief Operating Officer, Mark Cowan; Vice-President of Practice Management, Keeley Moree; and Chief Nursing Officer, Sandra Cain.
