SWMC PFAC Seeking New Members

Liberal, KS- The Southwest Medical Center Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is looking to add new members.

We are looking for people who have been patients, or have had family members as patients at Southwest Medical Center, and who are interested in helping us to improve our services for you and your family,” said PFAC member Jennifer Smith.

The mission of the PFAC is to facilitate collaboration between patients, family members, hospital staff, administration and physicians in order to enhance the overall patient care experience. PFAC members have a valuable impact on the patient experience through sharing their ideas and providing feedback on the planning, design of health system-based programs and services.

The first PFAC focus group went well. The group was able to recognize how the discharge process at the hospital could be improved. As a result, the PFAC provided valuable input for the process and aided in implementing those initiatives,” said Smith.

Now, the SWMC PFAC is looking to recruit new members for the second focus group. The upcoming PFAC group will focus on hospital signage and navigation.

We’ve noticed that sometimes patients struggle to find their way around the hospital. We want to make it easier for our community. We want to bring members in to see where the bigger areas of need are and from there implement better signage for our patients,” said PFAC member Janeth Vazquez.

The PFAC will meet starting in January. For more information on the PFAC and to apply to become a member, call 620-629-6335 or download an application on our website.
