Southwest Medical Center welcomes Benjamin Yabut, M.D., Pediatrician

LIBERAL, KS – Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of pediatrician, Benjamin Yabut, M.D. to the Liberal community, joining fellow pediatricians Mariana Lucero, M.D. and Nargis Husainy, M.D. Dr. Yabut joined Southwest Medical Center’s provider team this December as part of the Pediatric Care Center.

Dr. Yabut was born in the Philippines. He is the middle of five children. His father inspired him to pursue a career in the medical field. “I was always fascinated with science. I was the first person in my family to attend medical school, I knew that would make my father proud.

Dr. Yabut earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Thomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery located in Manila, Philippines. After completing his medical degree, he returned to the United States to complete a pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Yabut then broadened his skills further through his fellowship, specializing in pediatric gastroenterology at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Dr. Yabut has practiced medicine for more than 25 years. Most recently, he practiced in East Dundee, Illinois. Most notably, his practice was recognized for quality by the state of Illinois and was awarded incentives for quality measures for well-child immunization compliance and pediatric care excellence. When considering the relocation of his practice, Dr. Yabut said his visit to the Liberal community and the people he met reinforced his decision to choose Southwest Medical Center.

The people here made me feel like I was at home, they were very welcoming. I also saw the need for a pediatrician in this area and the opportunity for growth and knew that Liberal was the right fit for me.”

He says communication with the patient and their family is the most important aspect of his practice.

I take my time and get to know the patients and their families. I want people to feel comfortable and know that I will address each concern they may have within the scope of my knowledge. I’m also fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Benjamin Yabut is now seeing patients at the Pediatric Care Center, where he will be joined by pediatric nurse practitioner, Tracy Fowler. The practice is located at 121 E. 11th Street in Liberal. Dr. Yabut is accepting new patients and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid.
