Southwest Medical Center launches Patient Family Advisory Council

Southwest Medical Center will launch its first Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) by the end of March 2021.  The council will consist of patients and family members of patients who have received services at the hospital, either on an inpatient or outpatient basis.  The mission of the SWMC PFAC is to facilitate collaboration between patients, family members, hospital staff, administration, and physicians in order to enhance the overall patient care experience.  PFAC members will have a valuable impact on the patient experience through sharing their ideas and providing feedback on the planning, design, and execution of health system-based programs and services.

An advisory council provides a format for honest feedback and dialogue; it will help us gain a better understanding of the patient experience,” said Robert Whitaker, Southwest Medical Center CEO.  “Being part of an advisory council allows people a unique opportunity to be a part of the process in developing truly patient-centered care.  Those who serve on the advisory council should find it a rewarding experience to know that they are making a difference in the lives of future patients.”

The SWMC PFAC will meet on a regular basis at Southwest Medical with workgroup sessions and goal setting. The work of this committee is to help improve health outcomes with an even stronger focus on what matters most to our patients.  This group is looking forward to making a great impact in the community.

If you would like to join the council or need more information, please contact Janeth Vazquez at (620) 629-6335 or email her at jvazquez@swmedcenter.com.  There is a short application process.
