Emergency Department Room

Patient Rooms
Room assignments are based upon admitting diagnosis and availability on the day of patient admission. In order to maintain a high level of patient confidentiality, Southwest Medical Center has all private rooms.

Hospital Beds
Our hospital beds are electrically operated. Bedside rails are an important part of the hospital bed. The purpose of this railing is for patient protection as well as an aid in moving in and out of the bed.

Room Temperature
All patient rooms are centrally heated and air-conditioned. If the room temperature is not comfortable, nursing staff can provide assistance in accommodating specific needs.

Television
Most patient rooms have a flat-screen television. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping the volume at a reasonable level. Closed captioning is available for those who need it.

Wireless Internet

Southwest Medical Center now offers wireless Internet access to patients and visitors in the hospital. Click here for basic instructions on connecting your computer to the wireless network.

For all other wireless devices, choose the SWMC-Guest network, read the guest wireless disclaimer and choose “accept” in order to connect your device.

Telephone
Most patient rooms have a telephone. Local calls may be made from the room by dialing “9″ plus the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to the room. However, they may be made with a credit card or charging the call to a home phone number. Incoming calls may be made to the patient’s room by dialing 620-629-6 plus the room number.

Assistance
Please feel free to ask for assistance from any member of the hospital staff if you have any concern about your accommodations. We want your experience in the hospital to be as pleasant as possible. When moving in and out of the bed or the room, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance. We want to take every precaution necessary to avoid a fall or other types of accidents. Patient safety is very important to us.
